Junk removal in Penticton and the South Okanagan

Movers make good junk haulers. We already know how to get a couch down a stairwell without taking the railing with it.

A double garage in Penticton packed to the rafters with boxes, a couch, a treadmill, bags, bikes and a mattress
The same garage cleared out and swept clean, with a broom in the corner

What goes on the truck

The six jobs above cover most of it, and each has a page with the landfill rules and what you can do yourself for less. If you’re moving as well, we’ll take the good things to the new place and haul the rest in one booking.

Two movers swinging an old recliner up the ramp into the yellow truck, with a heap of furniture beside them

Here are a few real ones, smallest first.

  1. One old mattress
  2. A couch and a hide-a-bed, carried down the stairs
  3. A couple of pianos out of a building
  4. A condo, cleared before the sale
  5. A full truckload for a realtor, gone the same day
Jeremy is an absolute GEM of a business owner! As a realtor I was in a complete jam, Jeremy dropped everything and came out to assist me with a messy job that needed to be done immediately. He eased my concerns and hauled off an entire commercial truck worth of junk within hours of me calling him. I would recommend Junk in the Trunk to any of my clients, friends and family. He's professional, personable and gets the job done. Thank you Jeremy, you have my junk hauling business for life.

How the price works

When you don’t need us

A small load and a pickup can go straight to Campbell Mountain Landfill on Reservoir Road. Most things carry a fee, and the regional district (RDOS) doubles it if your load isn’t tarped. The depot at the entrance takes cardboard, glass, cans, paper and clean plastics for free. Check with the RDOS for hours before you go.

We earn our money on third-floor walk-ups, basement freezers and anything that needs two people and a plan.

Where it goes after the truck

Anything still good goes to our thrift store, and 5% of those sales goes to the Salvation Army Food Bank in Penticton, about $17,485 so far. About 90% of what we haul ends up donated, resold or recycled. The rest goes to the landfill.

Common questions

How much does junk removal cost in Penticton?

Junk In The Trunk prices junk by how much of the truck it fills, and heavy loads like concrete, dirt and brick by weight. You get the price before we start, so you can say no.

Can you come today?

Often, yes, depending on the schedule. We work 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Jeremy answers the phone himself.

What won’t you take?

We don’t take asbestos, lead paint, chemicals or other hazardous materials. Residents of the RDOS service area can leave household hazardous waste at Campbell Mountain Landfill at no charge.

Which towns do you cover for junk removal?

There’s no travel fee in Penticton and usually none for Okanagan Falls, Kaleden, Naramata or Summerland. A travel fee may apply to Peachland, Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and Princeton, and it’s always quoted up front.
