Moving in Summerland means knowing which bench you’re on

Summerland climbs in steps from Okanagan Lake, so your movers need to know more than the town name. We’re 17 km away in Penticton, and the first thing we’ll ask is which part of town you’re in.

  1. 17 km About 20 minutes North on Highway 97, along Okanagan Lake
  2. Lower Town and Trout Creek

By the lake it tends to be stairs and parking.

  3. Downtown and Upper Trout Creek

Up on the bench near Giant’s Head.

  4. Prairie Valley, Garnet Valley and Dale Meadows

Up the valleys it’s more often a long driveway.

Lower Town, Trout Creek or up top

Lower Town is down at the lake, where Summerland started. Trout Creek curves out into the water south of it. Downtown is up on the bench near Giant’s Head, and Prairie Valley and Garnet Valley run back into the hills from there. It all looks close on a map, but no two of those are the same job.

By the lake it tends to be stairs and parking. Up the valleys it’s more often a long driveway, with a shop or a shed to empty as well as the house. Give us the address and a rough idea how far the door is from the road. In Summerland that distance decides your hours more than the highway does.

Down to Penticton, up to Kelowna

Penticton to Summerland is 17 km of Highway 97 along the lake, past Sun-Oka Beach and into Trout Creek, about 20 minutes from our yard. There’s usually no travel fee, and with a drive that short, nearly everything you pay for is loading and unloading.

Going north is less predictable. Rockslides near Callan Road have closed the highway more than once, so check DriveBC the night before, and we’ll phone if a closure changes the day. If the Bald Range fire changed your plans, tell us what you’re working around and we’ll fit the date to it.

What a great experience with these movers! I shopped around for several days before landing on Junk in the Trunk, as they were quick to respond, highly knowledgeable on timing it would take and the best price. Friendly, reliable, fast and professional service. Moved within the city of Penticton. Thank you Jeremy and Tommy! Highly recommend 👌.

What you’d rather not pack

The garage or basement you don’t want to box up, we can haul, and you pay for the space it takes in the truck. For your own dump run, check first with the District of Summerland on what its landfill is taking.

Do Penticton movers charge extra to come to Summerland?
Usually not. Junk In The Trunk is based in Penticton, 17 km from Summerland on Highway 97, and that run normally has no travel fee. If your job were an exception, you’d hear about it before you book.
Can you move me from Summerland to Kelowna?
Yes. A Summerland to Kelowna move goes north on Highway 97 through Peachland, and you’ll have the hourly rate and any travel fee first. If that stretch is closed on your date, we’ll phone you and pick a new one.
How far ahead should I book movers in Summerland?
For a summer month-end, a month or more ahead is safest, because those dates fill first. Outside of that, Summerland moves can often be booked on much shorter notice, and same-day is sometimes possible depending on the schedule.

Tell us which bench you’re on.

Jeremy usually gets back to you within the hour.
