Peachland movers for homes built into the hill
Peachland has a strip of flat ground along Beach Avenue, and then it goes up. For movers, two things matter more than anything else here: how steep your driveway is, and how many stairs sit between the door and the bedrooms.
Top floor, street level
The front door is on the top floor
Much of this town is on a steep hillside above Okanagan Lake, and the houses were built to fit it. On the downhill side of a street, the front door can be on the top floor with the bedrooms two flights below. On the uphill side, the stairs start at the sidewalk. Every lake view in Peachland was paid for in stairs.
One flight down
That shapes how we load. Furniture gets wrapped before it touches an outside stair, anything that comes apart comes apart, and when the truck can’t get near the door we carry from the street. Send a photo of your driveway with your quote request. If it’s going to add time, we’d rather tell you that now.
What a great help these 2 men were. Took a couch and a hideabed from our house. No hassles, very polite, carried them out and down the stairs and no damage what so ever. Great job guys...
Two flights down
The treadmill question
A broken treadmill is a heavy thing to carry down two flights, and heavier going up two more at the new place. Decide early if it’s coming. We’ll haul what you’re done with, and you pay for the truck space it takes. Fridges and air conditioners hold refrigerant, which can mean a small recycling fee.

Highway 97 in both directions
We come up from Penticton through Summerland, 40 km and about 45 minutes, on the only highway on this side of the lake. Rock comes down on that stretch. A slide in 2008 shut it for 19 days, and in 2023 about 3,000 cubic metres landed on the road near Callan Road. If it’s closed on your moving day, you’ll get a call from us and a new date.
Kelowna is about 30 minutes the other way, up Drought Hill and through West Kelowna, and we do those moves too. The truck still starts in Penticton, so a travel fee may apply, and we’ll give you that figure when we quote.
- Buchanan Road
- Trepanier Bench
- Ponderosa
- Upper Princeton
- Beach Avenue
- Is there a travel fee for a Peachland move?
- There may be, because Peachland is 40 km and about 45 minutes from Junk In The Trunk’s yard in Penticton. It’s always quoted up front, so you’ll know the figure before you book.
- Will a moving truck fit up my driveway in Peachland?
- Some Peachland driveways are too steep or too tight for a moving truck, and then we carry from the street. Send a photo of yours with your quote request and we’ll tell you ahead of time how that changes the job.
- What happens if Highway 97 is closed on my moving day?
- Highway 97 is the only highway between Summerland and Peachland, and rockslides have closed it before. If it’s closed on your date, Junk In The Trunk will call you and book a new day.
- Do you move people from Peachland to Kelowna?
- We do, to West Kelowna and Kelowna, about 30 minutes north on Highway 97. The truck comes from Penticton, so a travel fee may apply, and you’d see it in your quote.
