Furniture and appliance removal in Penticton, stairs included

A hide-a-bed on the second floor is a two-person job and a bad afternoon. We carry it down and take it away, and if it’s still good it goes to our thrift store instead of the landfill.

Tell us where it is and we’ll work out how it leaves.

A sectional that won’t make the turn on the landing comes apart at the brackets.

We’ve carried couches the length of a parking lot and stood love seats on end to fit a small elevator.

Couches, mattresses and the freezer in the basement

  • Couches, sectionals, recliners and hide-a-beds
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Dressers, bed frames, dining sets and desks
  • Fridges, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers and dishwashers
  • Treadmills, pianos and other things nobody wants to lift

Getting appliances ready

Fridges, freezers and air conditioners hold refrigerant, which BC rules say has to be recovered before the unit is scrapped, so they may carry a small recycling fee.

Empty them first, and unplug a freezer the day before so it isn’t dripping on the stairs. A gas stove or dryer has to be disconnected before we arrive.

What a great help these 2 men were. Took a couch and a hideabed from our house. No hassles, very polite, carried them out and down the stairs and no damage what so ever. Great job guys...

Cheaper ways, if they suit you

Houses on City of Penticton curbside pickup can put out two large items each April, up to 90 kg (200 lb) apiece. The 2027 week is April 12 to 16, and fridges must be empty. Apartment and condo buildings aren’t eligible.

One mattress in a pickup is a cheap trip too. Campbell Mountain Landfill on Reservoir Road charges $19 per mattress or box spring (regional district rate from May 2026), and a load with no tarp pays double.

Toasters, vacuums and microwaves don’t need a truck at all. Return-It at 310 Dawson Ave takes them.

Before you pay to move it

If you’re moving soon, ask us what’s worth taking.

We’d rather haul a tired couch once than move it to your new place and come back for it next year.

Common questions

Will you take just one item?

Yes. Junk In The Trunk will pick up a single couch or mattress in Penticton. It’s priced by how much of the truck it fills, and you hear the price before we lift it.

What does it cost to take a mattress to the Penticton landfill?

Campbell Mountain Landfill on Reservoir Road charges $19 per mattress or box spring, the RDOS rate from May 1, 2026. Your load has to be tarped, and untarped loads pay double.

Is there an extra charge for a fridge?

There may be. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners hold refrigerant that has to be recovered before they’re scrapped, so they may carry a small recycling fee, which we’ll tell you about when we quote.

Do I have to bring it to the curb?

No. We carry furniture and appliances out from wherever they sit, including basements, upper floors and condo elevators.

Tell us where it is.
