Yard cleanup in Penticton, for what won’t fit in the city cart

If it fits in your yard waste cart, put it there. We’re for the apricot tree that came down, the sod from the lawn you pulled up, and the pile that’s been behind the shed since you bought the place.

What the curb can’t handle

The City of Penticton collects yard waste every two weeks from March to December, and your cart can hold plants, grass and tree trimmings.

During the City’s unlimited weeks each fall you can set out extra in paper bags, with branches tied in bundles no longer than 3 feet, no thicker than 3 inches and no heavier than 50 pounds.

Anything past that stays in your yard until someone hauls it.

Leave it in a heap

Nothing needs to be bagged or tied for us.

  • Limbs, trunks and fruit tree prunings
  • Hedge cuttings and pulled-out shrubs
  • Old fencing, lattice and rotten planter boxes
  • Patio furniture, and barbecues with the propane tank off
  • Sod, dirt and broken concrete, priced by weight

Why sod goes by weight

Sod is mostly soil and water, so a patch of old lawn weighs a lot more than it looks. Everything else in the yard is priced by how much of the truck it fills. Give us the rough size, send a photo, and you’ll have a price before we start.

Doing the dump run yourself

Campbell Mountain Landfill on Reservoir Road takes yard and garden waste for a fee, stumps too, as long as the load is tarped and secured. Skip the tarp and the regional district (RDOS) doubles the fee, with a $10 minimum. Landfill days change in winter, so check with the RDOS before you load up.

With a trailer and a free Saturday, that’s a fair way to save money. We’d do the same.

The team that came to do my dump run was extremely fast and courteous. Will definitely use them again and have no reservations in recommending them.

Common questions

Does the City of Penticton pick up yard waste?

Yes. The City collects yard waste every two weeks from March to December, and the cart takes plants, grass and tree trimmings. Plastic bags aren’t accepted.

Do branches need to be bundled for you?

No. Junk In The Trunk loads branches by hand from a heap, so nothing has to be tied or bagged. They’re priced by how much of the truck they fill, and you get the price first.

Do I need a tarp to take yard waste to Campbell Mountain Landfill?

Yes. Yard and garden waste has to be tarped and secured at Campbell Mountain in Penticton, and the fee doubles on untarped loads, with a $10 minimum.

How do you price dirt and sod?

By weight, because soil is heavy for its size. Send a photo and the rough size of the patch, and we’ll quote it before we start.
