Construction and renovation debris removal in Penticton

We haul what comes out of a reno, from a couple of old toilets to a garage full of torn-out drywall. Read the part about landfill paperwork before you start, because it can change what the job costs you.

A gutted kitchen in the middle of a renovation, stud walls showing, the floor papered over, a big window at the back

Tear-outs, offcuts and the pile in the garage

You’re mostly paying for the carrying, up the basement stairs and past whatever you’ve just finished.

  1. Drywall, lumber, trim and doors
  2. Cabinets, countertops, toilets, sinks and tubs
  3. Flooring, tile and carpet
  4. Concrete, brick and dirt, priced by weight

The landfill paperwork

The regional district (RDOS) says any structure has to be checked for hazardous materials before it’s demolished, renovated or altered. That means a report from a qualified professional, with asbestos testing on anything built before 1991 and lead testing on homes built before 1997. We don’t take asbestos or lead paint, so the report comes first.

Next you send the RDOS a Waste Disposal Application, which takes 1 to 4 business days to review. A copy has to travel with every mixed load, so have it ready when you book. It’s worth the trouble. As of May 2026, an assessed mixed load costs $125 a tonne at the Okanagan Falls sorting facility for people in the service area. With no assessment it’s $700. If you’re not sure it applies to your job, ask the RDOS Solid Waste Hotline at 250-490-4129.

Which sounds like your job?
BIN Junk In The Trunk

A bin A rented bin in the driveway can beat us on price, and we’ll say so.

Our truck With nowhere to put a bin, we make more sense.

Our truck You’re mostly paying for the carrying, and that’s the part we do.

Our truck The last of it goes before the new floor goes in.

On a long gut job, a rented bin in the driveway can beat us on price, and we’ll say so. We make more sense when there’s no room for a bin, when the debris is still inside the house, or when the job’s finished and the last of it has to go before the new floor goes in. Our price goes by how much of the truck it fills, and you’ll have it before we load.

Sort it if you can

Keep wood, concrete, metal, shingles and drywall in separate piles and the landfill fees drop. As of May 2026 the RDOS charges $125 a tonne for refuse with no recyclables in it, and at least $500 a tonne when recyclables are mixed in.

I had a mix of old toilets and other work garbage disposal, and they handled everything with ease. They arrived right on time, provided a very affordable quote, and worked incredibly fast. It’s such a relief to find a local company that offers speedy junk pickup and actually cares about eco-friendly disposal and recycling.

Common questions

  1. Do you take drywall from a renovation?

Yes, as long as it’s free of asbestos. The RDOS requires asbestos testing on structures built before 1991, and Junk In The Trunk doesn’t haul asbestos or lead paint.

  2. Why do some renovation loads cost so much more at RDOS landfills?

A mixed demolition or renovation load without an approved Waste Disposal Application counts as non-assessed, which costs $700 a tonne as of May 2026. With an assessment and approval, the same kind of load costs $125 a tonne at the Okanagan Falls sorting facility for people in the service area.

  3. How do you price concrete and brick?

By weight, because they’re too heavy to price by how much of the truck they fill. Send a photo and a rough amount, and we’ll give you the number before we load anything.

  4. Can you pick up from a job site on a weekend?

Yes, if the schedule allows. Junk In The Trunk works 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Penticton and the South Okanagan.

Send a photo of the pile.
