Princeton is a long way to bring a moving truck, so we plan it properly

The Tulameen meets the Similkameen at Princeton, and Highway 5A meets Highway 3, about an hour and a half from our yard. It’s the farthest town on our list, so the plan matters more here than anywhere.

An hour and a half each way

From Government Street it’s 113 km: over Yellow Lake to Keremeos, then up Highway 3 through Hedley. A truck that leaves Penticton at 7 a.m. is at your door around 8:30, with the same drive home. Moves are charged by the hour and a travel fee may apply, so you’ll have the rate and the fee before you book.

That distance changes what’s worth bringing. A cheap bookcase can cost more to haul this far than to replace, and Jeremy will tell you so. Have the boxes taped and stacked near the door before we arrive. On a trip this long, nothing saves you more.

Princeton is also where Coast moves get serious. Hope is about 133 km west over Allison Pass, which tops out around 1,340 m, and snow warnings and full closures are common there in winter. Merritt is about 90 km north on Highway 5A. Coalmont and Tulameen are up the road from town, and we go there too.

We’ve taken a February load from Penticton to Chilliwack with the passes under snow, and kept the customer posted the whole way. If the pass closes on your date, we wait it out, and you’ll hear from us first.

Jeremy and Ryan did an amazing job for me in February. They were super friendly and braved the snowy mountain passes moving me from Penticton to Chilliwack - and stayed in communication with me the whole time so I knew when to expect them. Really happy with them … A+

If it isn’t worth the drive

Anything that doesn’t earn its place on the truck can still go. We’ll haul it for what it takes up in the load, and the good pieces go to our thrift store, where someone in Penticton may be glad of them.

Do Penticton movers go as far as Princeton?
Yes. Junk In The Trunk is a Penticton moving company, and we do the 113 km run to Princeton on Highways 3A and 3, about an hour and a half each way. A travel fee may apply, and it’s always quoted up front.
Do you cover Hedley, Coalmont and Tulameen?
Yes. Hedley is on Highway 3 on the way to Princeton, and Coalmont and Tulameen are up the road from town. Tell us which one you’re in and what the road in is like that time of year.
Will you drive over Allison Pass in winter?
When the road is open and safe, yes. We’ve taken a load from Penticton to Chilliwack in February, and if Allison Pass is closed on your date we’ll call you and set a new one.
Is it worth moving furniture all the way to Princeton?
Some of it isn’t. With hourly rates and a long drive, a cheap piece can cost more to bring than to replace, and Jeremy will tell you that straight when you call.

Have the boxes taped and stacked.

Jeremy usually gets back to you within the hour.
